Anyone have any Roller Pigeons in thier coop?
I am thinking about getting a couple of roller pigeons, before I spend the money, just wanted to ask if any of you have had any mixed in with your Homers? My wife & I really enjoy watching the Pigeons fly everyday & thought it would be cool to have a couple of Acrobatic birds. I guess that another question, do they really flip over & do loops when flying?

I think it is OK to add them to your flock. But they are a hawk magnate. When they tumble in the sky they appear to be wounded and the hawks and owls see it as an opportunity. I would buy more than two, you may need them.

I did...they do draw the attention of raptors as they flash in the tumble.
They naturally tumble or a loud noise can make them tumble or roll.

I have rollers with homers, I like them. They recall to the coop well too.

I have rollers. I prefer them for training without a launcher because they take off straight up off the ground.
Yes they do roll, sometimes. You need to buy good stock, and that is harder and harder to get. Many folks are just breeding for color now, and don't fly their birds, so the rolling seems to be harder and harder to come by in my area.

If I was going to get some, I would just order them from Foy's. Would cost right at $180 shipped for two. I would like to have some but not gonna spend that on birds that are more likely to get killed by a hawk. If I ever run across any locally, I would consider it.

I have rollers. They work very well I think for my training. Fun to watch fly but as said before, they do attract the raptors with their rolling. I am lucky in that I have an endless supply of 20 miles from the house.

I would like to have some rollers, I think they are amazing. I don't want them breeding with my homers, however, and maintaining two lofts is too much work right now.

There a good source of shooters, they breed more than ferals. The ones I had were dumb as a post, I had a hard time getting them to trap.
They would be a good source of shooters with the breeding rate and the need to be, pretty ruthless culling them since even with good blood lots don't roll.
