NGSPA NATIONAL CHAMPIONSHIP's

Post by ddshine » Tue Feb 05, 2008 12:16 pm

Less than a month away. Hope to see familiar faces and meet some new ones at that. I will be done there for the Nationals and the futurity.

I am probably driving down with my horses this year. My youngest son expressed an interest in coming and in riding the NC. For those of you who have been on this forum for awhile, he is the son described in this thread: http://www.gundogforum.com/forum/viewto ... light=help

I have him taking riding lessons, so he will have a chance to stay on the horse. He is very proud of "his" dog, Spot, probably too proud. He will be there telling everyone he is going to win. But there will be many very very good dogs there. Repeating is not common.

I am going just to see people, and because there will be a reception and awards ceremony I need to attend. And maybe to give the NASDC a shot this year. Couldn't last year.

See you there Dan.

That is my schedule also Jerry. My plan this year is to bring my son Steven with me. He is taking riding lessons. He is the one in the story with Reba. The dogs are "his" and he wanted to come. How long he will tolerate being there I don't know, I will probably bring him to Ft. Smith during the Futurity and put him on a plane.

Good luck with LB.

I am leaving MI on the 27th and will hopefully be there sometime on the 28th. I only have one futurity dog to run then I am on my way home. Hopefully i can dig my horse trailer out by then to bring my horses. we just got hit again with some more white stuff. But just been keeping the dog on the treadmill in the heated basement. So he gets use to some temperatures over 0. We will see you there and have a safe trip down.

I normally bring that big old motorhome and stay in it, I have reservations at the Countryside and will stay there. Have never been there and ran a dog. Rich thinks LB can be good. Will have a lot of fun with LB and J R anyway so we can just hope.

Good luck to you guys down there. Mark will be bringing down Cutter & Jax for the NC, possiably Katie for the ASD and then dropping of Tim Thaden's Sonny dog we're running for Pat to handle, then we're getting Rich to bring him over to the V & the All Breed. Dan sorry we'll miss seeing you, maybe you'll get over to the V & All Breed. Best of Luck to all going.

Countryside Inn is in Booneville on the east end of town, on the south side of the main drag. If you have an old catalog, they advertise in that, and if you don't just let me know and I will post their info. for you.

What dog is that in your avatar?

I did not see the OSD part of the Pheasant, if that is when you ran. I did see the AA, Spot was braced with Luke. And I also saw the OSD part of the Region 3, was that when Bo ran?

What I remember about that was that all we needed was the RU to get SD of the Year. Spot ran well, but did not have a find until about 58, and we did not hear the shot (I was on the road with Eldon's wife and son), so we did not know that he was in it until everyone picked up and Eldon brought him in. I remember that it was sort of a neck and neck thing with the dog we were braced with, up to the private farm at the end of the island. After that I don't remember what happened with the other dog.

I know in reg. 3 he ran a great race. Real powerful hour. He went on point in the last field with about 3 mins left. I used all the last of the time to try to prdroduce a bird. But those pheasants will get in them woods and really run. I was happy. he did a nice job for his second time in an hour stake. I know i was braced with spot in either the pheasant or the reg. I don't know

Good luck to everyone going to Booneville! Unfortunately, neither I or Bell will be going. Bell will be going to the All Breed with Matt though, and then back here for Reg 2.

Dan, Bo was braced with Butch (Steger) in Reg 3. Spot was braced with Mic (Burjan)...I still have my bracing sheet here...unless the bracing changed after I left. I don't know about the Pheasant though.

I think that is right, I remember Burjan galloping around, his handling style is unmistakable.

I hope I can get my dogs in shape for the all breed if not i probably will not go there. i love making donations but would rather it not be on the account of the dog not being ready.
