Hey Tom, I see you are Boise now. I hope you looked up Doc Favor and his friend Richy.

Thanks Rodger, will see you there for the AA for sure. I think the AA will be really interesting this year. In addition to your dog Hud and the others the Gulledges will run, Eldon has several dogs that were too young to contend last year, but have really come on. One is a BDK dog, Breaker. Another is Richardsons' young female, Prairie Wind's Comeuppance, Penny. She won the GSPCA Futurity a couple of years ago, and just in the last few trials has put up two All Age Championships in a row.

Gonna be a good one.

Wow John that is wonderful to hear about all the dogs. I'm really tickled about Breaker (as she was mine & Keith's pick of the litter) as you know I was w/ her and her littermates our newest FC BDK's Robbin The Bank "Bob" and SM Pocket's of Gold "Pockets"and sister Shake The Banks Encore "Corrie" when they were born and lived in the spare room w/ them to make sure momma Shake (who I bought as an 8 wks old pup and trained and campiagned) was taking care of them and all were healthy and well. Just so excited. Congrats to Keith & Bobbi, Eldon and You and especially the dogs. That is to cool. :D

John, You'd better start shopping for larger trophy case :D Shouldn't that win move Spot up to at least 2nd on the NGSPA SD DOY standings?

Also, is that the last NGSPA event for you guys and has a dog ever gone DOY in both AA and SD before?

Congrats to you, Spot and Eldon on another Championship!!

Congrats to all who won at the R8 Championships. Alot of nice dogs... but not to rain on the parade, there were also alot of nice dogs running at Branched Oak that were not at the R8. Can't wait to get 'em all together at Eureka. See ya all there.

We have one more NGSPA Rodger. That would be the Hungarian Partridge Championships. I am going out to WY tonite to ride and watch, and maybe handle the dog in the ASD. I banged my knee up a couple of weeks ago, bike riding with the kids, so am kind of anxious about whether I can get up and down off the horse enough to handle. We will see.

I don't know if a dog has gone DOY in both. But Paddock and LB are in a commanding lead in the OSD, and we have some dogs breathing up our backs in both the AA and the OSD, so it is still an open competition.

It is a lot of fun to watch the results.

The cool thing is that Spot now has 6 Championship wins this calendar year (Ch. or RU). The record, I understand, is Tarkus's 7. As much as I would like to go in that record book, I am sort of hoping we do not best it. I respect that old dog too much, he is a very nice dog, really likes a good pet.

Tim, that's nice about Branched Oaks, I have run there myself many times. But can those "nice dogs" run the hour? That is the big question. Easy to look good for a half hour, even in the heat. Not so easy in the hour, especially in the heat. Lots of good dogs at the R8 also, 22 in the OSD, that is 22 hour dogs. Spot graduated from those half hours a couple of years ago, we do not run them anymore. But you go ahead and enjoy them. Congrats again on the derby win.

John,

I am SURE that some of these "nice dogs" could give the the "hour dogs" a run for their money. I am sure that Keith, Rich, Ray, Jim, and Pat have some dogs that could do it. Thats why I said "lets get 'em all together in Eureka". I may be bragging here abit, but I think Sonny ( who won the Derby at the Sharptail and at Branched Oak) could hold his own against the Derby dogs from the R8. I just love to watch a good dog run, be it for 30 minutes or 60 minutes. In it for the fun.
Will you be at Eureka?? Would love to meet you and swap lies.

I will be there for the AA.

The Derby is just 20 or 30 minutes everywhere. Don't want to hurt those young dogs.

But you just keep thinkin the hour is easy. Come run one of the early fall hour trials, when it is warm. Just for the fun of it.

I dare ya.

Or maybe ask Gulledge, Waresk, or Barber what they think. 8)

never once said it was easy... just don't sell these dogs short. I am sure not ALL of the "hour dogs" make it around clean either.
I am sorry if I ruffled any feathers.

Tim

ps Sonny probably will be at those events next year.

I can honestly say that I am enjoying the hour a little more than the others, kinda fell in love with the hour last year in Kansas at Great Plains. Changed the way that I feel.

Tim it is apparent that you have a very nice dog, he will grow in to a true competitor for aure. I have been the field manager for the futurity for this the 7th year, non of the big names have yet to win it, maybe not true as Eldon and Rabidou both won during that period.

The fun is to bring the very nice young dog, turn them loose and let's see what shakes out with them. I remember a couple of eyars ago, a fella came and had never been there before, ran the last dog as a bye dog and he walked. The dog was fantastic and if he had pointed a bird, would have won.

Looking forward to the draw tonight at the secretary's house.

Tim

At this point, it is all just numbers and that is how many dog. Period.....

The number of amateur entries and we usually get finished on Saturday around noon and then start the futurity while they are taking amateur pictures.

It ius usually 12 braces of amateur dogs @ day, 24, divided by the entry number. that is the ist series. The 2nd series is 45 minutes a brace and there could be as many as 25 dogs in the 2nd series, this will take a day and a half.

It should be posted on the GSPCA website when it is done. It closed last night and they are very good getting it up.

Hope you get a good draw and a great bracemate that will help draw attention to the pair. The are judged individually buy every little bit helps. I want to try and tweek the course a bit and maybe make it a little better.

Pat and Rich will do a good job as tey have this fall. Hard for us smaller fellas to get a derby win with the big dogs running.

Shoot me a pm for my cell number and you can call.

Woohoo! Congratulations fellars! Pretty exciting stuff - I sure missed not being there this year, the hospitality is over the top! Let's hear some details - cool finds, big moves, cactus crashes, antelope chases, etc.! :)
But can those "nice dogs" run the hour? That is the big question.
And can those hour dogs hunt real birds in real country for 3 or 4 hours one day, turn around and do it again the next, then the next... - that's the ultimate question! :) :) :)

Mine won't get to for another three weeks, but then, well, that is his job.

All I have personally watched was the Hun All Age, which was yesterday. Morning dogs did not do well, except for the winner, Abbey. Scenting conditions were weird. Penny put on quite a show. We lost her for ten minutes, thought she was gone, and then she was found to the front, a little dot.

Only one antelope chase that I saw.
