Were they running him Ted? Or did he get off the chain? I hope he was wearing a tracker that may help some. I hope they find him.

Has me thinking even harder about a tracking collar for my Gunner.

Best regards, Greg J.

Glad he was found!

Greg
Get one. I broke down this year and bought one. Hoping I never have to use it, but that peace of mind is a good feeling.

I've been hoping that a GPS unit that met the size and weight for AKC would come on the market.

Best regards, Greg J.

Before you buy one, let me know. I know a guy who gets a discount.

No, Tracker was no help. After Jerr lost LB he of course went looking for him with the Tracker, and got a signal from the road out in the middle of the course somewhere, but never found the dog. A farmer found him the next day just coming across the pasture. The farmers in the area are dog friendly and know where to bring shorthairs that show up. Nice fella who just drove in, dropped the dog off, and went back to farming.

Jerr and LB are in the OSD today (Fri.) or tomorrow.

Lost the Boy

Post by Hotpepper » Sun Apr 01, 2007 7:56 pm

Well, that is about as bad an experiece as a fella can handle. looked to dark after loosing him in the 9am brace that morning. Not like him at all. He was really going with 3 great finds and we had about 10 minutes to go and we came off the side of a hill right at the other bracemate and gallery, thought he would just go to the front.

Went south, rioght through the gallery and all. In putting the tracking equipment together that morning, all new batteries and checked the working of it all. Perfect, except I left it in the camper (receiver), so when he took off, had to go get it and when 1st checked he was on the course on point, off a ways but there.

In 10 minutes, the transmitter was not putting out anything. Dumb. Never got a signal all night. When he was brought back the next day I was about 7-8 miles sough and west of the ranch looking.

He must have spent the night in a barn as he was covered with fleas. The real deal is I GOT HIM BACK.

Glad he’s back with you Jerry and that it had a happy ending. Hopefully that experience left an impression on LB, to where it won’t happen again.

I need to get a tracker, but I’m holding out to see how the newer GPS units perform. Same as some other folks I suspect.

Take Care

Maybe he found a girlfriend to spend the night with. I have heard of guys bring home a lot worse things than fleas after a night out.

Fleas????????????????

Post by Hotpepper » Wed Apr 04, 2007 11:23 am

Yup, you are tight, he could have come home with a lot worse than fleas. The best part is that he is good and nothing wrong at this point. Home in his basement and pad with me this week and loving it.

He is a sweetie with wheels.
