Protection for the weeman! Literally....

Post by halt3rtop » Sun Jan 05, 2014 11:18 am

i gotta come out and outright ask about this....anyone had problems with their in tact dog hunting in the snow?! the other day we took bullet out for a rabbit hunt (he's never really been for rabbit, mainly birds). the snow was deep (this winter has been insane with snow) and i was on snowshoes, and bullet was like a freight train running through the snow, sniffing every track he came across. i noticed some blood and thinking it was his paw, we carried on. unfortunately closer to the end of the hunt, when i got him to sit, after he got up and went running through chest deep snow to greet my boyfriend, it turns out it wasn't his paw. and i apologize for saying it like so, but, it was his twig n' berries that got snow rash (as opposed to road rash lol) from running. he never skipped a beat during the hunt, but i'm wondering is there anything to protect the poor guy from the nasty hard crust from eating the fuzz off of his gonads?

Ought see a basset after some time in ice crusted snow. It heals, just looks bad.

Try putting vasoline or Vitamin A&D (with baby stuff) on them before you go out.

I had my GSP out today in the snow, it wasn't super deep but I noticed the same thing when I had hit sit until I could catch up to him when we were getting near the road. After he got up I noticed blood. Like you said, it turned out that his junk was bleeding from the snow.
