Solicitation of Lessons Learned for first time Gun Dog Owner
Fellow slingers of shot and lovers of the canine...I am recieving my new DD from SD in late January. He will be my first gun dog and i am interested in your comments regarding your advice for things you could do over or do differnetly in raising/training a gun dog pup...glad for info from all kinds of gun dogs as well as DDs.

Don't take shortcuts, they will always come back to haunt you, I am stubourn and still do it. Nothing replaces consistency and time.

Would have spent more time with some people and their dogs see what things I liked how a dog responded to their owner handlers or reacted
and wish I would have known about seminars Like Rick Smith and others and sat on a few and dog clubs again to see which method makes the most sense and easier for YOU to follow

Learn to read your dog. Pay attention and don't be so much trainer and you'll be suprised at what you can learn from a dog.
