Rooster
I just got some extremely sad but unfortunately expected news. My mother just called and told me that our Vizsla Rooster finally had to be put to sleep today. He made it almost 15 years, but as they all do he passed to soon.
Rooster was six months old when we bought him and I was 18. He was more than a bird dog he was my roommate in college, my jogging buddy, and maybe most importantly my "girl getter". He was a beauty of a dog all muscle and bone. That dog was the most natural bird dog I have been around yet. He wasn't the greatest bird dog in the world but he was one heck of a pheasant dog. He gave his all every time, even when age took his sight and his health the "want to" was still there.
I set here with a tears running down my face and only fond memories in my heart for he was the greatest...

Re: Rooster
Sorry to hear the news. I hope that all of the memories that you and Rooster shared in and out of the field will be a comfort to you.
Re: Rooster
Seems we can never replace that first birddog so it will always be important to keep the memories in your heart as you let the tired old body go to a better place.

It's not how many breaths you have taken but how many times it has been taken away!
Has anyone noticed common sense isn't very common anymore.
