R.I.P. Fine von der Madlage

Post by QCBirddogs » Sat Jan 24, 2009 1:46 pm

On December 18, I broke the cardinal rule and let someone else take one of our dogs out. We were not home and he wanted to work with some of the dogs.

My wife's pride and joy, Fine was shot and killed. She was our go to dog for all our hunts.

She will be sorely missed.

Until we meet again Mo!

I am sorry to hear that. She looks like a beautiful girl, and I enjoyed visiting your website and seeing the other photos of her too. My condolences. Denise

Phil, sorry to hear about Fine, we were all hoping and praying for the best out come. At least now even with little comfort you know what happened to her. She'll be a hard one to replace. You guys are in our thoughts. Will be coming by you all today on our way down to the Quail Championship in Ardmore. I always think about you guys when passing the turn off. Tell Gayla hello and that I'm sorry for her loss. You both take care.

Thanks all.... It was tough on us both....Going to be even tougher on the culprit...

After three weeks we finally found out what happened to her, after a little coaxing, We recovered her body and laid her to rest on our farm.

Robbi.... well one day give us a holler and we can meet for coffee.... BTW.... if anything ever goes wrong on the road near here...help, animal storage, whatever is just a call away!

Phil and Gayla,
My sincere condolences. She was a very nice girl. I very much enjoyed having her in my lap and rubbing her ears. Crap. This is so disturbing.

I can't let this go. I'm really hit hard by Fine going out that way. It's hard to take. Shot and left and then they didn't have the guts to come clean. Aaaaaahhhhhhh!!

Phil and Gayla,

So sorry it happened but even more sorry that you found out a friend wasn't much of a friend.

Can't say I ever met or had a chance to know Fine, but it made me sick to read about how she left us. Sounds like she was special to many people. It must be hard to believe someone could do something like that and then not to fess up. My condolences to you on your loss.

Thanks for the kind words and thoughts everyone!

I made it sound like my friend shot her, that wasn't the case. He was just playing with her on our property. Fine got away from him, once and he never saw her again. We looked for days and days..... Signs out, knocked on every door, adds in papers, large rewards offered. She never went far or for long before.

It was our P.O.S. neighbor that lives a half mile away. He killed her and dumped her 3 miles away. He claimed it was her killing his chickens! I know it wasn't though...she would have stolen one and brought it back for sure. Either way...a warning to us would have been nice. It was him we had to "coax" into fessing up.

Bad thing is.... two weeks ago we saw a dog heading down the road with a chicken in its mouth!

The rest of his life will be heck now.... HE will never shoot another dog again, I know that.

Phil and Gayla ,
I am so sorry to hear this tragedy. My thoughts are with you guys. She was a very very nice bitch. I would sue the SOB , and my dogs would be eating fried chicken or Steak for that matter for several years to come on his dollar.
