Vest for Every Day Training and Upland Hunting

Post by OceanMon » Fri Oct 29, 2021 12:30 am

Hi there

Brand new to all this. Getting a puppy soon.

Looking to get your advice on a vest that I could use every day for training - from general obedience to gun dog stuff - and that I could use for upland hunting. Does such a thing exist?

If possible, I don't want to look too hardcore in the park. Though I would choose functional and hardcore over looking normal.

Thanks

I personally like the Sylmar dog vests. I 've had very good luck with them and they have great customer service.

I have several vests, the Orvis waxed cotton strap vest is my go to 99% of the time. No hunter orange to draw attention, stays cool because the bird pouch is heavy duty mesh, it holds two water bottles in side pouches so they don’t tip and you don’t have to fish for them. I put my blank pistol holster on one side and the front straps have a place to hang a collar remote and Garmin. Pretty happy with it, and I have had a few.

BTW, the only reason I settled on the Orvis is Wingworks was sold out. If you can get your hands on one (Wingworks), well worth it.

Sorry, when I first read your post I thought you were asking about a dog vest. My bad. 😁

I just received my Orvis vest. It's perfect. Can't wait to use it over the next few years. Thanks very much!
