I'm looking at budget ecollars and am split between the dt systems pa 300 and the sportdog 350 yard trainer. I know the are both cheep collars but I wondered if anybody had any experience with either and their thoughts on them.

I used a Sport Dog for a while, but it shut down and I never purchased another one. I use Tritronics and as long as I can keep getting replacement batteries and support from third party suppliers I will continue using them. They are proven to be top quality products, although since they were sold to Garmin, I have not tried one of the new products.

There is a company that offers most all brands of collars including reconditioned ones. I get all my parts and batteries from them. I have found them to be a top supplier. The are the Collar Clinic. www.collarclinic.com/

Check them out....

Good Luck

I've used SportDog for quite a few years, and change collars only when they come out with a new model that seems to be worth an upgrade (they do offer trade-ins). Their customer assistance has always been good. Recommended.

I've had a Sportdog 1825 for 4 years now and the only problem I've ever had was needing to replace the battery once. Even that was probably my own fault for letting it sit in the car for a week of subzero temperatures.

Had 2 SportDog collars and neither lasted long. If you have to replace them they're no bargain. I got a used TriTronics and it's running great even though it's 15 years old or more. Got another TriTronics for those reasons. Collar Clinic is a great idea, as is eBay.

Dogtra 2500. Compact, durable, waterproof, long range, up to a mile. And battery life seems awesome. I bought mine in January, use it often, and have yet to recharge it. several settings for tone, point only, locate, stimulation adjustable up to 127 different levels. My GSP doesn't react if it's set less than 60 though.

Bought an old tritronix Sport g-3 recently with 2 collars on e-bay for $130.00. Have had the same collar for 10 years. Bought these 2 for replacement just in case. Batteries are now available through aftermarket, but have only needed 1 in 10 years.
