Gore-tex versus Ultra-dry

Post by dougroch » Sat Feb 25, 2012 6:26 pm

8 years ago I found the best pair of hunting boots I have ever owned. Irish Setter boots forget the model uninsulated with gore-tex, almost tennis shoe light, great ankle support, waterproof but unfortunately only have a season or two left in them. I have been shopping around online and found almost identical boots, the only difference being they now use Ultra-dry instead of Gore-tex for waterproofing which is the only reason I haven't bought them yet. Every boot I have bought for the last 20 years has had Gore-tex and it has never failed me so I have apprehensions about switching to an unknown. The insulated versions of the boot still use gore-tex but I really don't want/need any insulation on most of my hunts, I use heavy socks for insulation when needed. Anyone have any experience with Ultra-dry?
