Issue with DT Systems remote launcher

Post by cpinkert » Wed Aug 31, 2011 11:07 am

I bought a DT Systems launcher last week and have used it 4 or 5 times now. Out of the box I couldn't get it to work when loaded until I figured out to loosen the nut/cap on the screw in the middle of the arm that moves to release the launcher. Now, I have to check it every time I use it to make sure the nut/cap hasn't tightened up.

Anyone have a similar experience and a solution to my problem. I'm thinking a little WD-40 would do the job? I'm gonna try a different brand of battery, too, just to make sure that's not the issue.

That is why Dogtra is the way to go, more expensive up front but what happens when your dog jumps on the launcher and get s bird shot up his nose. I would see if I could return the product and go with Dogtra. Wish I could help more.

I've heard of MANY people using DT launchers without problems. Far more than the Dogtra.

I'd call DT, or replace the nut in question with a locknut.
I have English Pointers because they don't ever grow up either...

Sounds like a plastic lined locking nut might do the trick, or some thread lock. Should be less than a dollar to fix your problem. :D

Just had an oppotunity to look at this again...tried a brand new battery (the one i put in there initially came right out of the package, too, but who knows how long it was sitting in the cupboard at grandma's!) and that fixed all of the problems. Now there is plenty of power and the launcher works like a charm.

DT v. Dogtra seems like a Ford v. Chevy thing to me...they both seem like good products to me.

yep,DT is kind of the Caddilac of launchers but Dogtra and TT products are good also. Just not a whole lot of difference in them or how they are made. Collar Clinic told me Dogtra is the most reliable collar but they too said all three companies are selling good products. They didn't think much of Sport Dog though.

Glad you got it figured out and I dont mean to hijack, but on the note of an issue with my DT launcher. I have had them for about a year and used them about a dozen or so times and now the locator/beeper on one isnt working. Kinda works when it wants to but not always when I need it.

ANyone have this issue?

I have changed batteires etc.
