Thanks John,

Dennis said he ran a very consistent Shooting dog race, always in front and one hill away. He had two covey finds and a stop to flush and finished just as he started. Dennis also related that it was very hot this year. Not bad for a young dog, he will be three the end of November.

OAA 12 drawn, 10 ran
ASD 24
OSD 30
Derby 5

Lot's of birds, very few dogs went birdless and for a wild bird trial that was great. Heat was the problem, temp were mostly in the 90 except one day in ASD and one in OSD and they were in the 80's. I am sure more birds would have been found if it was not for the heat. At times it was pure heck. The temp. one day was 102.

Tom Davis, female the winner of the NGSPA national shooting championship, this last March had two female pups. She had to have them by C-section. Tom was so nervous and he was like a cat on a hot tin roof.

Your truly made a miss-step and blew out his knee and will be seeing an orthopedic surgeon this coming week. I was planning staying to hunt sharptail and Hun's but that changed due to the accident.

Montana season for sharptail and Hungarian Partridge opens on September 1. So, there is always an open invite for anybody with GSP to enter there dog and do a little hunting afterwards. The is lot of open land in the area being run under Montana's block management program.

But, never fear I will be back in the game before you know it.

Congrats Dean! Those Comanche winter training dogs tearing it up. Are you at the "Chicken as well? If so, give us a little running commentary when you can.

Still in MT giving the dogs a chance to run on sharpies (read that hunting!). Jake and Gina are currently tied for NGSPA Amateur SD of the year so Jake insists on going to the Chicken. We will leave Ekalaka Friday.

Later,
Dean

By the way, I scouted Bruiser for Dennis - he did a great job (Bruiser not Dennis)!

Good luck at the Chicken. I'm planning on making the Hun, so might see you there. Good hunting!
