GARMIN ALPHA TRACKER/TRAINER COLLAR

Post by jurso » Tue Dec 25, 2012 11:36 pm

Does anyone know if the Garmin ALPHA Tracker/Trainer is approved for FT use??? Either AKC or AF?

I had heard they submitted for approval, but never heard any updates.

Thanks,

Doubt it, but you will get more looks at your post in the general section.

Yes but you have to remove the training receiver. Then it becomes no different from any other tracking collar.

The tracking collars allowed have weight restrictions & I don't think it's light enough.

If you go to AKC website it is not approved collar. Here is the link. http://classic.akc.org/trackingdevices/index.cfm

I've made some calls to my friends at the AKC to double check. They are notoriously slow about updating their site though.

The AKC discontinued the weight restrictions a few years ago. They now approve collars on a model by model basis.

My answer from the AKC was "not yet"but since the sport dog is approved they couldn't see why the Garmin wouldn't be approved soon.

Thanks,
We were considering purchasing this unit but wanted more information from AKC as to whether or not it would be approved. We were told it would not because they would never be assured that the e-portion of the collar would not be activated.
