see if you can tape it and put it on here thru youtube..
would be nice to see how he does it.

I wouldn't tape it or make it available for the public to see. No need to give terrorist organizations more ammo.JIM K wrote:asc wrote:Should have posted this sooner, sorry

If we had BOTH dogs here, we'd be at Bud's in a shot. Unfortunately, we won't be picking up the younger one till next weekend.
So anyone who is within decent driving distance of Alachua FL should participate in this clinic... Bud knows his stuff!

He defangs the snakes, puts an e collar dog & leash on your dog. You lead your dog around the yard until it takes an interest in the snake and then zap!
You keep quiet and let the dog figure out what happened, after a few minutes lead the dog over toward the other snake, if it shows any interest then zap again.
That usually takes care of any interest in snakes, though I've got a female that still kills yard snakes, though one rattle of an old rattle and she's headed for higher ground.

Also, Bud trains with 3 different kinds of snakes: Eastern Diamonback (local), Western Diamondback (not indigenous) and most importantly, Pygmy Rattler (local). The latter is the one that probably accounts for the most hits down here in FL, so the fact that he trains avoidance on it is especially good.asc wrote:Thats further advanced than I am in this area.JIM K wrote:asc wrote:Should have posted this sooner, sorry

Pygmys really don't rattle the way the other two do: more of a buzz if at all. So it's important that the dogs learn to recognize (and avoid) snakes by sight, sound, and smell.
