I'll be out there for the Sunflower trial and will be staying over an extra day to visit Bechtel Ranch, so I guess I'll be the token Vizsla guy.

Looking forward to it.

You better get you butt down there and run Bandit. I don't want to hear that you had some kind of fill in handler MR.

I believe our good buddy Steve is refering to either my getting thrown off Doc at Palo or maybe my mounting mishap at Fort Dearborn.

Either way, It must have been hilarious not being the one on the horse

Didnt they use to have a dog of the day or something like that in the past. Wish someone had a little info on the trial and some of the top performers they saw or heard about thus far. Any news would be good news.

I heard its very tough conditions ( heat and thick vegetation) many dogs going bird less and there are tons of birds on the course.

I was out there for the Sunflower trial and stayed over on Monday and spent about a half-day at Bechtel. All I know is that the 2nd brace got around with birds and Joker went birdless, along with quite a few other dogs. It got pretty warm and there wasn't a lot of breeze.
The Sunflower trial was the same way. Very tough, lots of birdless dogs.

A huge congrats to Joe Inderman and also Grant Stanfill the breeder of Llano's Tails Aflame....two really nice gentlemen from the heart of TEXAS! For you Four lakes guys, Llano is about 60 miles from Dennis' winter camp in Comanche.
If you have never been to Nationals and not met Grant, he has been involved with the Shorthair breed for some 40 odd years and for him it's always about the dogs.

Futurity started Friday. Should be just about done. AA follows, then OGD. You can see the draw at

Grant is one of the best people you will ever run into at a field trial or anywhere else you may go. Huge Congratulations to all involved.

Congrats to all placements!
Question regarding AA and OGD - how many hour braces do they generally try to fit in each day? Just trying to get a gauge on when they might be wrapping up.
Re: Nationals Eureka

They plan most of the time on running 6 a day but it depends on crashes and what the judge wants to do. After the AGD the place cleans out and you will get a some scratches, pros are quicker to pick up so it can shorten it a couple days quickly.

Thanks!! I was hoping my pup would make one of these placements, but one of his littermates did! Many congrats to all the owners and trainers, but especially to Gary and Wendy, David and Sara! My Sam found a lot of birds, but did not get that big run in (he was too busy being on point...lol). Sara said he had 5 solid, broke points on his run. I am happy for the winners, and would love to be there to watch Nationals one of these days!

They started the All Age National today.
In brace one Windy City (in season) will drop and run last brace on Wednesday afternoon, her bracemate (Bets) dropped to brace 2 as Chas was scratched out of brace #2. Other scratches are DC Free Flight's Bosefus from brace 13. Wednesday morning we'll start w/ Brace #8.
They ran 6 braces today, will run 6 tomorrow and 6 Thursday and finish up. Believe the GD will start Friday.
It was awefully windy today and rough on running and pointing birds. I'll be back out there tomorrow morning brite and early as we'll be in the 3rd & 4th brace and possibly on the bubble w/ Hoss as well. If I come home tomorrow I'll post if I don't I'll try to borrow a friends laptop. ;0)

So far AA dogs around are Opal-Messer, Bella-Waresk, Cane-Goegan, and Rip-Gulledge. Gonna run through brace 13 in catalog then run females in season which are Rawhide's Windy City-Armbrust x Tonelli's Little Stinker Dixie-Goegan. Then tomorrow we'll start w/ brace 14 and finish w/5 braces. Brace 15 is gone Gitz wasn't supposed to be in this stake and Ruby drops to last brace to run.
All I know for now other than weather is nice except for the wind is back and roaring.
