Nice draws Jim. First brace on Saturday and Sunday should be optimal with near 80 degree highs predicted. Good Luck.

It is unbelievable how many entries Eisenhart and kinklear have in the trial. I am bored so I did the math lol. In the open derby there are 7 braces with one being open for a total of 13 dogs. Eisenhart has 6 entries and Kinklear 3 entries. In the open shooting dog there are 20 braces for a total of 40 dogs. Eisenhart has 11 entries and Kinklear has 10 entries. Thus they have about 70% of the entrie in the derby and just over 50% of the entries in the open shooting dog. Doesn't leave a lot of room for the amateurs, huh? Just an observation, good luck to all and have a good day. SCKWEST

    Thanks for posting Jim.
I've always admired your dogs and the finish you put on them. Best of luck to you.

Anyone who thinks they can compete and win against the big strings of the Tracys,Eisenhart and Kinklear are just Spittin' In The Wind and wasting their money, but it's their money I guess. The field trial game is more or less Menopolized by them. The shear number of good dogs they show up with Squashes the odds.

Yep, that's just what they want you to think. :D Granted, I have dogs with the Tracy's but I run my other dogs against them too. ...and win. Honest judges will put up good performances regardless of who is running them.

Tell that to Derrig. He won on the SD circuit, and now on the AA. Anyone can and will be beat.

Most amateurs don't have Derrig's money. I bet he goes through a few dogs to get the ones he can win with.

Any of the top shooting dog pros with deep strings is going to be tough to beat. A handler with a half dozen top competitive dogs, and each of those fellows mentioned certainly have that and more, is going to have it all come together with at least one of them at every trial. They dpn't just beat you with numbers, They beat you with excellent dog after excellent dog after excellent dog. They have the best dogs because they have the clients with the money and willingness not only to buy the best dogs but also to train and campaign them aggressively.

I do not do the pro thing, but as an amateur, I have to compete against many of those same dogs being handled by their amateur owners. Some of those amateur owners are very accomplished handlers also and that makes for an uphill climb most days.

Actually, Jim Lawless, got a piece of the Illinios Open Championship with a bunch of Pros there. Jim is a great guy and a good dog man. I met him a few years ago at Region 17, judged his derbies in the Egyptian two years ago, and was up at the Nat. Am Prairie Chicken Ch. last year.

If your scared of the pros, don't compete. All you need is a good dog and a horse and you have the same chance they do. I have a dog with Shawn K., but if I can't get a piece of a trial, I love when guys like Jim do. Good luck to all.

They are posting the two top dogs of the day. Yesterday's top dogs were Richfield Silver Belle and Erin's Black Fury, both Eisenhart's dogs. Don't know the details and don't know the top dogs today.

I rode Friday and Merrihills Carolina did an outstanding job. Had 6 finds and a very nice with near 80 degree temps. I think the two dogs on the board now are Merrihills Carolina and Richfield Silver Belle. Rain was moving in last night and supposed to be over with in the mid morning on Sat. There were a few dogs picked up early. Good luck to Jim Lawless on Saturday!!!!
