Post by Hotpepper » Tue Feb 19, 2008 10:46 am

Eight days till the start of the NGSPA Nationals in Boonville Arkansas. I have not been there before and am going to run and watch LB and J R. Will be there for a week.

Is anyone else going and when? Hope to get to see you there.

Jerry, not going to Booneville, hoping all this ice and snow will stop so we can quit missing school. Sure want to get to the all breed during spring break, but this weather is making it look bad, as we have missed a few days already!
Heard that there was 9 all age dogs drawn and I think 30 osd, not sure on the am. or futurity, and NOT positive on the other numbers.
Good luck there.

The numbers are 9 or 10 AA (down from 21 last year), 30 Futurity (down from 48 last year), 41 ASD (up from 29 last year), and 45 or 46 OSD's (up from 39 last year). So more Shooting Dogs, less qualified All Age. So in total, the trial is down about 12 dogs.

Hmm, wonder what effect the AA judge selection had?

When we get there and see the entries, we should be able to tell if that had an effect on the entry. The judge you were talking about did a good job in Kansas I felt.

Looking forward to an evening of swapping lies with you at dinner and I will buy. (I've tried to get you to buy without any success)

I just hope that Spot and Bud are not together as I want to "See Spot Go". With Rob in attendance and judging this year, it will be a lot of fun.

Nancy, wish you guys were coming and bring Buck. Is Cutter coming?[/quote]

The judges had NOTHING to do with the AA for us, this is the 2nd year we have NOT gone to Booneville. And don't know that we will go back. (especially if Keith and Robbi don't, that is where our dogs are). I (obviously) was pleased with the judge in KS, he was very nice and talked to us a great deal about our dog after the AA. We actually had the chance to really meet him and talk to him last year at the Reg. V and All breed, it was very interesting and we enjoyed it very much.
Yes, Cutter will be there and Jax. I do wish Buck could give 'em all a run for it, he will be at the V, All breed, and the Great Plains. Then probably home for some spoiling time until time to get ready for fall!

John is definitely a great guy. He has very strong tastes in AA dogs. Probably is not a stronger advocate of the AA in the breed.

That was my point. "Possibles" need not apply.

Both the reighing NFC in the gsp world will be there, Spot and Cutter. That would be a good brace I feel. Have to ride and watch that I think. Wish Buck was coming, he is very consistent and has been for a couple of years. Nice dog.

The judge will not get nervous when the dog has been absent for a spell and that is a fact.

You know what you get with John and he won't put up a Shooting Dog in the AA which is done all too often. I agree with John and I will never place an SD in an AA stake and when a SD is put up what or who does it serve?

Thats true your not going to pull a fast one over on John. A SD will not place under him in an AA stake. So if that is the reason the entries are so low OH WELL. I doubt it though. When you don't have that many AA qualifiers or for that fact many AA dogs left in the country your not going to have a big stake. Save your money and put your SD in the SD not the AA. This goes for trials john isn't judging at to.

Yes, I am going to take that plunge. But I have a secret formula to get the dog to run one way one day, and another way another day, which I am going to patent some day I think.

Haha! I knew that John! Just had to poke fun at the "don't bring a knife to a gunfight" chat above!! I'd do the same thing if I ever went to that trial - I've mastered how to get the AA race in the SD and the SD race in the AA, I'd patent that but I don't think there's much interest.

Good luck guys!!

Doug

Nice to have you on here again.

I am jumping into that deep hole as well with LB, ASD and AA. He will be a lot better than me and all I have to do is find him standing and not go by him on point in the amateur.

Looking forward to it for sure. Wish you were coming. Can you imagine, Spot and Bud together, I vote for that>
