March 31 hunting licenses expire. Make sure to get a new one, as the AKC requires a hunting license to run in a hunt test. Maybe a trial too, I don't know.
You can get a new license from the Illinois DNR online, here:
https://www1.wildlifelicense.com/il/start.php
You can also renew your Wild Game and Gamebird Breeder's License online with that application too (a must-have if you're maintaining any dog training facilities, or possessing live quail). I'm not sure yet how they get you your new Gamebird Breeder license number, but I just renewed mine last week.
HOT TIP: If you print out your license in the format of "2 pages per sheet of paper" (landscape orientation) or at about 50% size, the license itself, after cutting it out, will be small enough that you can just fold it in half instead of folding it into four sections. At that size, folding it in half and then laminating it (business card protector sheets from 3M work well) you can have a normal credit-card-sized hunting license again. Fits in the wallet easier that way.

To clear up some issues and questions from last year:
1. Only Illinois residents need to possess an IL hunting license.
2. All ages of people are required to have a hunting license, and anyone born after January 1, 1980 is also required to have passed a hunter education safety course.
3. Youths under age 16 can hunt without the necessity of having a FOID card if they are accompanied by someone over the age of 21 that does have a FOID card.
4. You can train your dogs outside of hunting season and even shoot birds, so long as you possess a valid Wild Game and Gamebird Breeder's license and maintain an IL Designated Dog Training Area or an IL Licensed Hunt Preserve. Requirements and procedures can be found on the IL DNR website for both.
Any more legality questions, post 'em and I'll do my best to get an answer.

You should buy a hunting license and put it up some place. It will be worth a lot of money in a few years after Illinois bans guns. Should make a great collectable.

It's not how many breaths you have taken but how many times it has been taken away!
Has anyone noticed common sense isn't very common anymore.
