UNITED STATES CHICKEN CHAMPIONSHIP
Solon Springs, WI—The United States Chicken Championship, sponsored by the Northern States Amateur Field Trial Association, drew an entry of 30 dogs (27 pointers and 3 setters) for the 2005 running. The champion is Blue Steel Addition, white, liver and ticked pointer male owned by Roger Bowman of Ringgold, GA, and handled by Ray Warren. Addition appeared on opening morning and scored two finds, one on quail and a nice find on chicken, to secure the championship honors. The runner-up is Hytest Nestle Quick, white, black, tan and ticked setter female owned by John Elliott of Knoxville, TN, which appeared on the third day. The quick and flashy setter scored a contact with chicken to secure her honors as runner-up.

The companion Derby has an entry of 12 and got off to an encouraging start with finds in the first two braces on chicken by the young dogs. The Open All-Age will follow the Derby and has six entries.

The judges are Ned Myers of Mt. Vernon, IL, and Mark Livingston of Central City, IA
