Trial cancelation

Post by Casper » Wed Mar 19, 2008 7:34 pm

For those that were planning on attending attending the AKC Gun Dog Championship and were going to enter the GSPC of Reno weekend FT our FT has been canceled. The Bureau of Land Management (BLM) has revoked our permit. The Gun Dog CH will still take place.

That sucks. I know the work and prep that you go through in the planning of one of these things.

Sorry to hear.

Charlie Yes it will. The Championship is being held on different grounds. AKC wont allow us to hold our trial on the same grounds prior to the CH leaving us SOL.

Helen, this is the result of the local Indian tribe trying to take over Hungry Valley. They have filed suit against the BLM so until that is settled they pulled the event permits.

I and a couple others are going to work on getting access to some private grounds. This way we dont have to deal with a government agency.

Hard to say at this point. It may not be until the end of next week before I can make it out to the one possible trial grounds. Only other disadvantage is it is almost 2 hrs. away from Red Rock. I dont think trialers are going to want to drive all the way down here to go to a weekend trial just to have to pull up and go back to Reno.

Down here I mean down here where I live in Gardnerville

The German Shorthaired Pointer Club of Reno regrets that due to Bureau of Land Management revoking our permit for BLM land in Hungry Valley we have been forced to cancel our April 25-27, 2008 Field Trial. We are sorry for any inconvenience this cancellation may cause you. For use of BLM land in Hungry Valley contact BLM in Carson City, NV, Bryant Smith at 775-885-6172 or his supervisor Don Hicks at 775-885-6000.
This is the e-mail sent out by the club

Is that the same grounds Casper used for the Nat'l Am. Chukar SD and the Western Open trials??

How come one trial, the Nat'l Open GD Ch, is able to be conducted and another, your club trial, is not??

No Doug those grounds you are talking about are at Red Rock. These grounds are in Hungry Valley. About 30-45 min as the crow flys to the south east.

I will see what I can work up as far as getting new grounds at last minuet. Hopefully the club will go for it if I can make it happen.
