Basicly you put a harness of sorts on your dog and let him pull something, like a wagon, or they got set-ups for atvs for mutiple dogs. they use it in the off season for conditioning.

Btown has it pretty much right. Roading is at it's simplest the dog pulling weight at speed. I road my off ATV at an average speed of 8-10 MPH distance varies depending on time of year and age/condition of the dog. Due to the weight bearing aspects 20 minutes of roading puts the same strain as about an hour of field work, some folks say 2 hours but it seems closer to an hour to me. Heres a pic of my roading rig loaded with 4 dogs I can road up to 10 dogs at a time with this.
