Now that our season is over here in Nebraska I am looking for some new ways to work with my dog, so if any of you have some training tricks that you use to keep your dog ready for next years bird season that you want to share?

Oh yea. We usally get our dogs out a month before the season starts and run them on wild quail. Roading also gets dogs in shape.

I've been working on the mail server. Linux, Postfix, Spamassassin, and Anomy Sanitizer. No crashing and I didn't put $.01 into Mr. Gates pocket! I love it!

JK,

Just because the season is over doesn't mean you can't keep running your dog. Summer training on young chickens up in your neck of the woods was a hoot!

Depending on your location I would be careful about training in unknown fields. There was alot of foxtail weed & Spear grass last time I was up there. Waiting till it burns off is better for the dog.

THere are many different aspects of tests and trials to try too.

I agree. Training and conditioning is a year round event for me. Pigeons work great when nothing else is available.
