Bird scared dog, no more.
Several months ago, I posted about needing help with a Springer who was fearful of pigeons. For those that don't recall:

I never got her to a trainer but, I got some help last week from the Heart of Texas Spaniel Club. (Thanks to those guys) The basic thing was she needed more birds. Fast forward to this weekend. Dog tackled a wing shot rooster pheasant that she found and flushed and had good finds on 5 other birds, 3 of which I put into the bag. She retrieved all the birds to hand and now we need to re-steady because she is just nuts about birds.
Yesterday it took her an hour to figure out why we were walking around a field. Today, she was ready out of the box.
So doing some "yard work" here at the hotel today and will go back out tomorrow for one more day of preserve hunting. I will try to get a picture of her doing her thing on here tomorrow.

Always glad to hear things turned around and worked out well. Enjoy:)

Nice work. I like that the answer was more birds. It reminds me that sometimes we over think this stuff. These dogs have been predators for a long time. We should be willing to learn more from them.

That is great to hear. Keep up the good work.
I'd rather live on the side of a mountain, than wander through canyons of concrete and steel.
Re: Bird scared dog, no more.
For most problems with bird dogs, the answer is often more birds!

Not only more but just as important, used properly.Neil wrote:For most problems with bird dogs, the answer is often more birds!

It's not how many breaths you have taken but how many times it has been taken away!
Has anyone noticed common sense isn't very common anymore.

True, but I didn't want to get trapped into writing a treatise on how to do it properly.
Re: Bird scared dog, no more.
So pleased to hear of your good fortune and success.
