What are the best conditions to train your dog in I planted pigeons for my 1 year old gsp yesterday and she didn't find them until she was only a few yards away yesterday morning was kinda muggy and no wind here in ohio

Train in all the conditions that you are likely to experience hunting or trialing. That includes; rain, cold, snow, heat, high winds, and everything else except lighting or tornadoes.

But to answer your question: cool, damp with a light steady wind. The old timers always complained about an Eastern wind. But if I am going to hunt in it, I am going to train in it.

You dog will figure it out.

Hot & muggy = a dog breathing and sweating through his open mouth is not a dog using (as effectively) his greatest asset..his nose. Pup will figure it out if given the chance...steadiness is a big plus in these conditions due to the potential for and likely close bird contact.

On another note, with poor conditions, your pup will probably be sooo close to the bird, it will catch it. Just remember to keep a close eye on your pup and make sure to mark your bird locations. This way you can work with your pup while on a check cord, if she gets right on top of the bird you can steady her.
