Just a couple of photos I snapped when I had JD out this evening for a while... He's about 2 1/2 now.

That looks a lot like a dog that Charles Sherrod of HighCotton Llewellin had.

JD came out of MIke Miller's Sixgun Kennels in Wisconsin. He's not what most people think of as a typical Lewellin when it comes to range... He's a big running dog and can cover a lot of ground in a hurry, but he doesn't run wild and stays in contact with me... He'll range out 500 and 600 yards at times when we're in open country. He's a very easy going dog around the house...very, very calm and mannerly.. His biggest fault is that he false points. He'll point anything and everything... If I take him to a place where he's found birds before, he remembers and will go to the clump of brush where he's found birds in the past and point the bush. I've learned to read him pretty well and can tell when he has a bird pinned down and when he's false pointing.

Time and experience will get him out of the habit of pointing the spot and not the bird. He really is a handsome dog. Please share some more pics from the season.

Good luck. We only have dove opening tomorrow. Out quail and upland season starts a little later.

That sounds like a Highcotton Llewellin. Mine has some pretty big range out there too.
