When I have my pup sitting on place or when he's retrieving, I'll say here and when he gets closer I'll say heel. Sometimes he heel sits perfect and sometimes he's running so fast he likes to run right past my left leg and then turn around behind me then come heel sit. He just randomly started doing it. I've tried re-correcting it with a check cord, but he runs to fast to keep up with the check cord. Swamp said eager dogs will over-run you when they are coming in hard. Does this need to be fixed or does it not matter?
Second question. I introduced my pup to gunfire today for the first time. He did good. He didn't get scared, look around, stop, or anything bad. He acted normal and just retrieved. I am following Duck Dog Basics by Chris Akin right now, and in the video he only introduced the pup to gunfire for one day, and then one more day later on in the video. I was wondering if I need to follow the video and do just that one day or is there a certain amount of days I need to do it?
