Need pigeons or chukar in SD
Looking for training birds near Aberdeen SD..any body have a source ?
Re: Need pigeons or chukar in SD
Keep your eyes open and when you see pigeons using a silo or barnyard, roosting of feeding, pull in and talk with the farmer. See if he would have his kids catch and sell them to you or ask if you can go in at night and get them. ROD

When can you start running dogs on wild birds in SD?
Re: Need pigeons or chukar in SD
I just posted a wanted ad on craigslist. I said "Pigeons wanted" And then said that I am looking for either feral or homing pigeons and to email me. I got a response already after the first day I put it up, someone is selling me a breeding pair of homers with two other adult birds for 5 bucks a piece (im going to pick them up saturday), and best of all, they contacted me about it.
I said in the add that I would also be willing to trap in a farmers barn if they have pigeons as pests.
Put up a craigslist add, the worst that happens is no one responds. Might get lucky and have someone offer you some cheap like I got.

Found lots in town..but they are hung on "no-can-do", rules and protocol fifedoms..some veeery important people there.
To train afield on wild birds is dicey..never know what will happen. Also regs are restrictive..see SD Game fish Parks rules online.
Trying Craigs list.
