Smartwork VS Fowl Dawgs

Post by Mr_Earl_Swagger » Tue Jul 03, 2012 11:11 am

Which one do yall think would be best for a beginner like myself with a 7 week old German Shorthaired Pointer? Mostly dove hunt with maybe some duck and water retrieve. Any suggestions would be great.

I don't have any experience with the fowl dogs program so I can't comment on that.

I used the Smartwork program for a DD and like it. My dad used it also and felt it to be a very good program.

I believe a huge beneift of following the Smartwork program is the author Evan Graham checks the various forums, including this one, often and is very helpful with answering questions, providing tips, explaining the system, etc. He posts under the name EvanG.

I will add, given you are a beginner, I would highly recommend joining a club like the North American Versatile Hunting Dog Assoc (NAVHDA). Also, you should be able to join a Hunting Retrieiver Club (HRC). The HRC club would probably have members that are familiar with both programs.

I emailed Evan last night and when I got up I had a response already. That is the kind of people I want to do business with. I will be going with smartwork. Thanks for the advice I will be looking in to the clubs.
