Dont know how you all do it!

Post by Munster » Thu Sep 15, 2011 7:31 am

I am talking about the field trialers and hunt test people that do this every weekend.
I leave today for Mn for our HZP test tomoorow. I havent slept at all and I am sure I wont tonight either! If I did this every weekend like some of you I would probably die!

Anyway, I am hoping for the best. Barring any brain farts we should be ok.

Wanted to also share a couple of pics a good friend and GDF member took of Max this past fall. He is a complete clown and the pics show it!

Thanks everyone. I am sure Max will be good, it is me that always seems to screw things up. My female would have had prize 1's in both her UT test, had it not been for handler error. Hoping things go better with Max.

I appreciate the kind thoughts! :D

The best part of it is not sleeping. It's that rush that keeps you going every weekend. I drive 6-10 hours all alone to get to my trials so I try to sleep while I'm driving!

He is a German import.

Sire is Jago vom Buchenberg
Dam is Fanny vom Schutzenknapp

We are very pleased with his performance so far. He is a little legger then I like, but the boy has my heart now. He always gives me 110 percent and he has always been very forgiving of my mistakes. What more can you ask for from a guy?

Anyway, thanks for the complement on him.

How well you do is not near as important as the fact you try no matter what you are doing.

Thanks Ezzy, that is one thing I have. I may not know all the answers to this training thing, but I give my 100 percent.
I suppose by Friday evening you all will know how we did.
Since he is my first force fetch dog, I know I have some holes. I am expecting to get hit in manner of retrieves. But luckly they are only a multiplyer of 1.
But, you never know, he may come through for me. Then I will get back to work with some spackle to fill them holes!

I can't trial anymore but it used to be the only thing that would get me up at 5a.m. :)
That is a beautiful dog . First SM I've seen actually in action. Thanks.

Well, it is all over but the cryin. Max did VERY well. Met alot of good people and saw some good dog work.
MAx gave me about 109% with the only real problem coming with manner of retrieve. We averaged a 9 in that area. Not sure where his head was on that issue.

Anyway, if you want to see any of the pictures you can click on the link below. Check out the pictures of the Max in the quicksand mud he was in during the duck search. That whole duck search was crazy, crazy enough that the gallery applauded when he finished. SOmething I have never seen before. Very crazy!

Normally being "on the line " makes me so nervous that I need to use the bathroom.
As you know no one is going to wait for you while you use the bathroom.

Doc
Yup, I lost sleep 2 nights before the test. But slept like a BABY the night after and so did Max!

I am not clear ifyou are runnig a HZP or a trial, but if you are running an HZP and it is your first, you are going to have a blast. I didnt need to worry near as much as I did. The judges in the JGHV system are very layed back and supportive. They really do want you and the dog to do the best you can.

If it is a trial. Good luck to you! Someone will be breathing down yor neck!!!!!!!!! Just kidding!!!!!!! LMAO

Acooper, yes, it was truly amazing! I dont and didnt know how to handle some of the things that were being said about this dog. It shocked me! I thought we were just doing what was expected.

Wems2371, Thank you for listening to me whine and stress on the phone prior to the test. It is appreciated.
Ready to knock down or attempt to knock down some ducks tomorrow?
