using doves
well around my place there arent any pigeons,i think i could get some but it would be a lot easier to trap doves cause we have a bunch,would it be ok to do that or is that a problem because not to many people talk about using them
if u can't do it with a dog it aint worth doin

The reason being doves feathers come out very easy making them not a good canidate at all for trianing with...I tell people not to take young dogs dove hunting till they have some training and seasoning under their belts.
Plus I think it is also illegal to trap and use a migratory bird for such reasons anyways.
You may try a search in your area of game preserves and birddog clubs you may be surprised at what you'll find
