chewing on pigeons

Post by drake handler » Thu Mar 24, 2011 3:59 pm

I have a 8 month old lab. And he chews on the pigeons every chance he gets. He also jumps up and tries to take them out of my hands no matter what I do. Any advice would be very helpful.

OBEDIENCE, OBEDIENCE, OBEDIENCE!!! There is no reason that dog should be allowed to jump on you. Obedience comes first, then the pigeon problem. It sounds like you are in dire need of a training program. Before going further I would suggest the Evan Graham series. Evan comes on here and answers questions you may have. Fowl Dawgs is also very good too.

now that he has been introduced to birds i would stop using them until he has been forced trained. force training him will develop the proper hold you want with birds. get some of the knobby plastic bumpers and us them in your retrieve work.
