If they are anything like radios they won't have the range advertised. What kind of range are you realistically getting? I am looking at the sportdog 1800. It says it has a 3/4 mile range.

it all depends on Line Of Site. so everyone will have differing distances. everything factors in to the range ie: trees, brush, hills, buildings, etc.

If it's got a 3/4 mile range and you actually get out of range... check your batteries.

I have a sportdog 2400, and I am pretty certain that I have gotten a recall (I use the beeping function for recall) at almost a mile and a half. I have also read of other people having similar results.

I have sport 60 that I just shipped back, since I have had the unit there have been times I haven't been ab;e to shock the dog within line of sight and 50 yards and others when I got him at 400+ yards on the other side of the hill. I know line of sight has a lot to do with as well as the amount of power the transmitter can put out.

But it seems none offer the range they sayy they do.

If it says 3/4 of a mile range that is the range that you will get if you are on a lake with no wind. But when you get into brush and hills it decreases some. I am not sure how much because I to am looking to get a collar soon.
