North Dakota Training

Post by phermes1 » Thu Jun 04, 2009 11:15 am

Anyone know of/can recommend a pro that is heading up to North Dakota later this summer for training?

I was hoping to get one of my dogs out there to get some work on wild birds. Our original plans fell through, so I'm investigating options.

What about Sherry Ebert or Bill Holtan they live in ND? Others that go to ND include: Shawn Kinklaar, Jason Williams, JC Turner, Ben Garcia, Dean Lord, Ike Todd, Allen Vincent, Larry Huffman, and others. Some of those are right down in your neck of the woods too - would be easier to get a dog to them I think.

All owners and pro trainers that utilize ND training grounds owe a big THANK YOU to Sherry Ebert and Bill Holtan for being representatives to the ND House for dog trainers that effectively killed a bill that would have severely limited dog training by non resident pros in ND.

Also, I think ND Game and Fish will be watching very closely the dog trainers from now on - to make sure they comply with licensing requirements and other things. I think it would be wise to be extremely compliant with current regulations.

If I lived in the Southeast I would send the dog with Robin Gates or Rick Furney.

If you're interested in current and future dog training in N.D. you can review this thread to see what WCH is talking about: viewtopic.php?f=95&t=16957

The N.D. legislature meets every two years. Once certain residents have become upset for whatever reason, unless their issues have been adequately addressed, watch for the topic to resurface in subsequent legislative sessions.

I would second the recommendation for Sonny. He's an excellent trainer and has a top notch program. Piekarz. http://www.haycreekkennel.com/
