Any Snake-Proofing Available in the Tampa Area?

Post by SubMariner » Wed Jun 03, 2009 8:54 am

Since there's been a lot of much-needed rain (thankfully) down here lately, the rattlers have started to make their appearance. In fact a big strapping young fellow from one of the local high schools is in the hospital due to a snake bite. Anyone have details of local snake-proofing training/clinics in the general Tampa area?

Thanks in advance,

Bud Calderwood is the only guy I know of that I would trust to snakeproof my dogs, and he is outstanding. If you can track down his #, you could probably set something up with him fairly easily. If you made it a clinic and got a fair amount of dogs signed up, he'd most likely travel to the location of your choice as well.

I can see if I know anyone with his #. You might also want to ask the various NF and CF GSP folks if they have it.

Haven't heard anything lately, Paul. Zio's breeder usually keeps emails us with anything worthwhile.

I'll see if googling him gets me anywhere. Did you snakeproof your dogs with him?

EDIT: there's a Dr. Bud Calderwood on the Alachua Chambe of Commerce:

That him?

That's probably him. He's a retired vet and lives in Alachua.

If you're thinking of setting something up for folks in general, Becky might be able to get you into M-town to do it. It's usually not too difficult getting enough dogs signed up.
