E-Colar

I am in the market for a training colar for my laborador retriever. What do you use? I'm seriously looking at the Dogtra 1200NCP and was looking for some advice. If you use this colar - Please let me know what you like and don't like about it. Thanks.

I use that very same collar. My only gripe is the dial can be a bit of a trick to find the best setting for an idividual dog and if you need to give your dog just a bit more you have to go back and find that setting again.

i use the sportdog 2400 with my german shorthair and it works great if you are only going to have one dog. i would go with the tritroic if i were to get more dogs. the reson i went with the sportdog coller was it was cheeper and had a liftime warrenty on it unlike most e-collers out there. would recomend it to anyone. i guess the only thing bad is the transmiter antena is long and can get in the way wile hunting.

The ergonomics of the Tritronics is far superior to anything else I've had in my hands.

I have a Dogtra 2002 Train and Beep that I use as "hunting collars", but when I'm training, on goes the Tritronics.

I haven't used Sportdog E-Collars, but I recently purchased two top-end Sportdog bark collars and they flat don't work. Whoever designed the on/off/test/intensity switch was a total idiot.

quick question

why do you use dogtra hunting and Tritronics when training? i would use Tritronics 100% of the time.like i said in my post the only reason i didn't go with the Tritronics was the cost.

i haven't had any trouble with my sportdog collar at all. most the the sportdog bark collars are made by petsafe, they just put a diffrent sticker on it.

The Dogtra is a two-dog and is also a beeper collar.

The Tritronics I have is a one-dog and is only an e-collar.

When I bought the new collar, I was looking for something reliable but less expensive.

The battery life of the Tritronics is better, but I have nothing negative to say about the Dogtra. It's just that the ergonomics of the Tritronics are worlds better.

Best,

I think my bark collars are Sport dog or maybe petsafe? I think they are the same thing? I have had great luck with mine. Mine must be a little different cuz I don't have any switch?
Try the cheap 40 dollar collars Wally world sales. THis is the ones I bought in a pinch and work great!

Hi TAK, thanks for the info.

I got mine from Lion Country. I e-mailed and asked if I could swap them for Tritronics and pay the difference.

Several times I went in to check on the dogs and the switch had migrated from one of the lower settings to "Off" or, worse yet, to "Test".

Grrrrr,
