Training with Wings

Post by dixieboy » Tue Aug 16, 2005 6:52 am

Hello again, I really appreciate all the help with all my other questions.....This may be a dumb one, but its even dumber if I don't ask. I always hear about people using quail or pidgeon wings, but never dove wings. Is it because dove are migratory birds and they aren't in a harvesting season? Or, does it have something to do with the scent? I don't think scent would have anything to do with, being that pointing a wing is merely a sight point.

The wing on a string thing is just sight pointing. You can as easily do it with a paper towel, a wal-mart bag or whatever.

Some few people train with it. Most folks now-a-days use it to test how much point a pup has, then put it away.

There is a lot of information here on how to start a pup. You can search the threads using the "Search" link in the thin, green navigation bar at the top of the page.

Best,

Ditto....
once the wing on a string has been pointed ..throw the wing away

it only promotes sight pointing

May as well --

I agree. No wing on a string game... Use live birds.
