Where can I get full frozen quails cheap for training my bird dog??? I wont have the chance to go hunting personally for a lil while and want to introduce something other then a wing.

I found this:

Hows the price?? They say not edible to humans, I wonder why... could these be used for dog training??

You cannot substitute live birds for anything. Better off using live birds unless you are just doing retrieving. For getting one pointing you want it to flush when pup sticks his nose in...

Pointing a wing is not scent pointing but sight pointing. I can get pups to point a plastic WalMart bad on a pole. They point the wing on a pole because they cannot catch it. At best, all you accomplish with this is seeing your pups style on point. I don`t mess with it.....I do like to introduce live quail at 8-12 weeks. First a bird thats a cripple, maybe letting them catch it, then when they are pretty bold they start using birds that will get up when pup sticks his nose in. Cindy (Honeyrun) wrote an excellent article for starting pups on birds. Cindy?
