back to basics ?

Post by basspow » Mon Sep 15, 2008 3:27 pm

Have been trying to steady my GWP(20mos)) by using pigeons and remote launchers. When he moved off point, I would pop the bird.no verbal commands given. He has stop chasing,. He is by no means steady to flush,he will turn a few circles while watching the bird fly away. I have been planting the pigeons in heavy cover so he wouldn't see the launcher. every now and then I would lose sight of the dog and the result is a caught pigeon and launcher. I think I have learned a lesson, intro birds before he was whoa broke. Think we will forget the live birds for awhile and go back to the bench. Looking for advice I was trying to do the field work by myself. old guys need helpers.

This young guy needs one too. Between the e-collar remote, launcher remote, pistol, and clicker I ran out of hands...oh yeah...there's a cc in there somewhere :D
Success usually comes to those who are too busy to be looking for it.
