I've used three different models of two different brands. I really, really like the quality and ergonomics of the TriTronics Pro series.
If you are going to primarily use continuous stimulation, get the Pro 100. If primarily momentary stimulation (a.k.a. "nick"), get the Pro 200.
I'd like to have a Pro 500, but it's too rich for my blood.
I like my Dogtra 2002 Train and Beep, but it's just not as easy to train with as the TriTronics.
Best,

I use the SportDog 1200 myself. It works great, never had a problem - ever.
The only knock on it is that the collar-electronics are a bit bigger and bulkier than a Dogtra/Tri-Tronics counterpart.
-------------- EDIT ---------------
From the pictures on the SportDog site, the collar for the SD-2400 (the collar you're currently looking at) seems to be the same one as the SD-1200 that I use -- so keep that in mind if that would bother you or your dog. I use mine on a 50 lb. vizsla, though, with no problems.
Since nobody else has offered any advice on the SportDog collar you're looking at, I guess I should throw in that as for brands, nearly all collars in the same performance range will work just as well as another. Some folks may have had a problem with brand X and will only use brand Y, but keep in mind that there's always an opposite opinion that will only use brand X and will never touch a brand Y. The thing you run into on the internet is that you mostly hear the bad stories. If a collar works like it's supposed to, there's no story to tell.
SportDog is a fairly new brand (under two years old I think) so there's not a lot of opinions out there yet... or at least I haven't heard any stories (see above). My personal experience tells me that if you're looking for a nice collar and are on a budget, take advantage of the brand while you still can. As soon as SD gets a track record of quality, as opposed to no track record at all, the prices on their collars are likely to jump up and equal the Dogtra/Tri-Tronics.

I've got the Tritronics Upland Special and I've never had a problem with it...it gets used everyday. Holds a good charge and they're made now so that you only need 1 charger for both the remote and the collar. I did need to get a new antenna and talked to a rep. at the Ducks Unlimited Show and he gave me one on the spot...no questions asked!
I also have the DT100. I like the smaller remote better than the Tri, but I don't like the dial on it as opposed to the larger dial on the Tri.

Jesus,
Here's my 2 cents. When I got my first dog, I never thought I'd have two. I've been using the tritronics Upland special for 8 years. It was returned and replaced last year. The transmitter went. I think it cost around $150.00 flat rate. They sent me a brand new rig. It took 2 weeks and I had to send the old one back first. It was the middle of the season. I run 2 pointers guiding 8 months out of the year. The upland special can't be upgraded for 2 dogs. But has a mile range. When I started to run the pup last year I didn't want to spend $700.00 for the 2 dog unit. I got the Sport Dog model 1200. It has a 3/4 mile range and can be set for 2 dogs with the purchase of another collar($99.00). Cost me $199.00 with a lifetime warranty and 3 training tapes. My first time out last year with the 2 dogs I broke the transmitter. My fault. Made a phone call and had a new transmitter by the next day. Sent the old one back later.

The 1200 has a 3/4 mile range and a non-rechargeable transmitter with 8 or 9 levels of stimulation. With you and your GSP,I don't think you need the 1 mile range. You can't go wrong with the tritronics. They are pretty rugged and can take a beating. Plus they're made in the USA. Sport Dog on the other hand is the new kid on the block. No one has a better warranty. I don't think you can go wrong with either one. It comes down to the money and how hard you're going to use it. Good-luck and have fun with your hunting partner.

I have the SD1200 and their 400 beeper. The main feature I like about SportDog is the warrantee - LIFETIME. If a problem occurrs, get in touch with them and they send out a new unit. The price is right as well. Not as many whizz-bang features as some of the others, but still still a good quality unit for the price.
Comments I have heard/read on the Tri-Tronics and Dogtra brands have all been 90+% on the possitive side untill you get to the warrantees. Innotek on the other hand..I have never seen much in the way of positive recomendation for this brand.
Actually the parent company for SportDog has been in the electronic collar business for quite a while. They started out as "Radio Fence" and made some of the first "invisible fence" systems. They changed their name to "Petsafe" and still make some of the best inground and proximity electronic fence systems. They just got into the training e-collar line a few years ago.

Well once again thanks for the info. After really thinking it over I have decided to keep the collar. I recieved it yesterday and finally got to use it today. Those collars work like a charm. I couldnt believe it after a few sessions my dog was incredible. I am really happy with its performance so far. I took the dog out to retrieve in water and it worked fine after he submerged in the water. What in incredible device. These collars arent that bad after all. Thanks everyone!

I think you made a good choice. Then again, I guess I'm somewhat biased. I like my SportDog collar.
