Tibetan Quail???

Post by SlickClowninMillie » Fri Feb 29, 2008 12:29 pm

I ran across a game bird farm online that is selling flight conditioned Tibetan quail for $2.50. Is there any disadvantage to training with these quail over like the northern bobwhite? Thanks for the help!

It's a long wet drive to get to Tibet! Remember the price of gas.

Has anyone noticed common sense isn't very common anymore.

Not familiar with them, but would guess they dont fly as well. You get what you pay for and most folks that have ever tried different birds than the bob's always come back to em.

Same thing as a Japannese (courtnix) quail....they are mostly the birds raised for meat....i got some for $1 a piece and they didn't fly very well...after leavign them in the flight pen for a couple months they did ok but not as good as the bob whites.

I too am looking for birds right now and I saw those Tibetan and the Courtnix quail (not sure of the spelling on either). I was also given the advice that neither bird is a good flier. Also a neighbor had some of the Courtnix quail and they died so frequently it seemed he was buying them more often than he was training with them.

I am going with the bobwhites myself.

The bobs work better for me. I use wild tho on my place. Set up a calling box wit hone in it, the rest will come. I have lots of birds on my place, listen to em call all the time.

Turkeys too but they ruin everything. They crap on the cars it eats the paint. I mean huge too like a bucket at a time.

I used them one time. They do not fly very far. You have to have a dog on a check cord or they will catch them.
