First time working my two Brittany's together

Post by Gaito » Mon Dec 14, 2015 9:30 am

I have a 3 year old Brittany which I have hunted over for three seasons but never hunted him with another dog. last fall I got another Brittany and I have only hunted over once and she did a great job. But I think when I get them together the younger one is only going to want to play with the older one causing him to not hunt as he has been trained any tips on how to go about running them both at once in the field.

Just do it and then you will know what you need to do instead of just guessing. It is normal for a pup to want to play but that will end quickly if you hunt them together.

It's not how many breaths you have taken but how many times it has been taken away!

Has anyone noticed common sense isn't very common anymore.

Really doubt that is going to happen. If it does it won't last long like ezzy said. My 2.5 year old and my 5.5 month old romp and play at home. Crazy bounce off the wall stuff. Put them down together and they are all buisiness. At 4 months he was chasing the big dogs. Month and a half later he is really serious about finding birds doing his own thing. I usually hunt them separately but put them down together some out in the wide open areas to add range and speed to the young one.

Your dog will let the pup know this isn't play time when the pup runs up his backside while hunting. The times I've hunted with a pup and older dogs there wasn't but a few snarly nips and the pups got the message.
