Sportdog collars

I am going to be getting my GSP in about 2 weeks and have been considering an E-collar. Im not sure of the actual need for it but think it might be good to have one on hand to facilitate training. Not wanting to spend alot I have been looking at a Sportdog 400 and need some advice from experienced users. All input is appreciated.

Do you know the proper way to use an E collar ? If not I would try with out it. They are a very helpful tool if used properly. If used wrong they can do real damage to a gun dog.

I certainly dont want to use it incorrectly. I had used one many years ago with a hard to train dog, although briefly. How does a person learn to use one?

there is a video from perfection kennels that has an excellent "how to" when it comes to the ecollar. I was not planning on using one myself, but after I saw this video I understood what the correct way was. It is to be used as a wireless check cord basically.

I guess that is more of a sales pitch then an answer to your question. I promise i am not on payroll at PK....
