Where do I start?

Hi

I live in the UK. Around October / November time the bird hunting season starts on the farms.

I have a 7month old pointer. (She maybe a pointer x springer).

I would like to attend the next seaons - (first time for me and the dog)

The dog appears to have developed a prey drive. This is what I see when I take her out on a woodland walk.

1- Nose to the floor 90% of the time sniffing
2- While nose is on the floor, she is running around waggling her tail.
3. When she see's a bird, she is off trying to get it.
4. She hear's everything. When she hears what might be a bird, she stops, stares and then runs towards it.
5. When we are woodland walking, commands go out of the window as she is too excited. The only comand that she listens too is the whislte or "come".

But, to be honest I do not know where to start.

Start with a check cord. You need "remote control" over your dog when he's out of reach. This will enable you to reel him in in the field when he ignores you.
