Ive had pretty good luck in just letting out a high pitched yelp and pulling a way quickly than ignoring the pup for just about 10 seconds. Just need to make sure that those little FANGS dont cut your hand open. Probably just wait till he reacts to your yelp than pull away. They seem to be a bit suprised
when you screem out like pup realy hurt you but it takes some time to realy get them to not do it as all puppies do this untill they grow up a bit.

If your speaking of a pup what I do is take my two fingers and place them in the pups mouth sideways so that my fingertips are protruding from the opposite side of teh mouth taking my thumb and placing under the jaw so that the pup can not get my hand out of the mouth with my other hand i cup the back of the head so help prevent any over excursion on the jaw ..I will hold this until the pup quits struggling at which point i will very quickly ask for the fingers by saying drop or mine or what ever the release command is going to be
I find one good dose of this cures it pretty quick sometimes it may take 2 if the pup has been allowed to get away with the behaviour for any period of time
this is to be done to be uncomfortable but not to harm the pup

If you feel like you are banging your head against the wall, try using the door.

Are you talking about when you reward the dog or he just bits you when he is playing? If he bits you when you reward him I always take my dog by the collar and bearly let them reach the treat and then tell them easy may take a few time but worked with mine as far as the biteing while playing take their ear and bite it not hard but enough to let them know you mean business and tell them no bite! Sounds funny but they do that to each other while playing and think it is ok when you bite back they realize it hurts! The screaming thing also works!

Sounds like your dog isn't trying to bite you, but is just over eager for the treat. First, I'd like to echo Katie's Dad's post. In addition, I always found that the less the treat is potruding from your hand, the better. For example if you were giving a medium sized Milkbone, hold it in your closed fist with just the very end poking out between your thumb and index finger. This seems to slow a dog down some. I don't know f they think the treat is smaller so they're less excited or if it's because taking hold of a smaller target involves more finesse.Bayli wrote:when i reward my dog for somthing he almost eats my hand, how do i stop him from doing this ?
