Puppy Teeth

Post by grant » Mon Nov 22, 2004 10:36 pm

Kage has one more puppy tooth. At what point should we go to the vet to get it pulled? Should I give it more time? It doesn't look like its bothering him too much....

If it's not bothering him, then most times you don't need to have them pulled. The new one will push it out as it's coming in. I would consider taking him in if the new one is in already, but behing the baby one and that one isn't very loose.

Heh.. I know the feeling Grant. You just want to get that miniature steak knife outta there as fast as possible!

What I did to "help" Justus' teeth along was to play a few rounds of tug-of-war with him, making sure he bit down on the loose tooth. (The tooth is at least loose, right?) When he tugs, his grip isn't as good since the tooth bends and eventually on one of those tugs it just pops. You may see it, you may not. Check the carpet carefully so you don't step on it with bare feet later.

And, as you know, after the last tooth comes out their breath does get better.
