Cheap(er) Price on Pro Plan

Post by Garrison » Thu Apr 30, 2020 1:02 pm

FYI, if any of you are trying to avoid stores. I just went to order a bag of Pro Plan on Amazon, not sure what the deal is, but they have a 48lb bag listed for cheaper than the normal 37.5lb. Strange I have never seen a 48lb. bag before.

That’s a first for me. They keep making em smaller and smaller.

Yup...the confectionary industry started that many year ago. Now it's rampant. They hold the price more-or-less but you have to check to volume carefully.
The ways it's going, we'll have to pay them to keep it.

I might be missing something here but to me it looks like the 48 pound bag is 2 pounds less than the 50 lb. bag and around $20 cheaper or 9.5 pounds more that a 37.5lb. bag and about ten dollars cheaper. Either way it does not sound like the price is getting higher for less volume.
I never seen 48 pound bags either though.....Cj

You are correct! that is a awesome price, i just bought a bag at TSC last week it was a 37.5# bag for $48.00..
I think i better order a bag anyway in case they say it was a misprint!
THANKS for the heads up!

You might want to re-check Chewy.com. I was just on their site and PPP Sport 30/20 chicken and rice formula as pictured above comes in the following sizes. 6 lb., 18 lb., 37.5 lb and 50 lb. Same as the Purina site. Not sure where you are seeing the 34# and 47# bags. And not sure where Amazon is getting a 48 lb. bag. I'd be cautious in buying that 48 lb. bag at that price fearing it could be a faux bag of food. Purina does not make ProPlan Sport 30/20 chicken and rice in those size bags.

Don't know why 48# would be 41.00 and 37# is 47.00 but I ordered one. We will see. Amazon,,, can ship it back if there is a problem.

We shall see. I was scratching my head when I saw the size, but even the picture says 48lbs. I noticed on their website that some new packaging is coming, but they listed the normal 37.5lb and 50lb sizes. Hope they aren’t planning on new sizes with the new graphics again.

Nothing can get a bunch of guys that spend a healthy chunk of their disposable income on a hobby fired up, like a slightly better price per pound on feed! Including myself.

I rechecked Chewy.Com
The 34# and 47# bags are PPPP large breed formula for dogs over 50#. Never knew they had that.
PPPP Sport is 50# $58.88 and 37.5 49.98 autoship.
They are a week or more behind on there autoship…...Cj

Locally our Tractor Supply stores have carried both size bags for a long time now. And they have variations too, like they carry only one or the other but will order for you the one they don't have. Petco also carries both sizes.

Our TSCs will price match too, if you can show something like a screen shot with a date.

Out of curiosity I googled ”48lbs Pro Plan Performance“. Walmart also has it listed for the same price if you are not a Amazon Prime member.

Don't know about you guys ,but the same thing happens over this side of the pond .....especially with On line purchases of dog food.
...
The variables of weight and or bag size, and or delivery cost or slight change in protein content or colour of bag etc , creates a flurry of "I can get a dollar cheaper" ?
..
I have always found that the local store either has food or it doesn't .. Pro Plan is over here in different bags at half the price ,but don't ask me to send you some

I stocked up 2 months ago when amazon had the 37.5 pound bags for $31.xx. If you click subscribe and save I got them for $29.99 each. I just bought 4 of the 48# bags with subscribe and save they were $39.01 each. Great deal on a great dog food.

My order came this morning. It’s the real deal! Might need to stock up a bit.
