Looking to buy a first aid kit to carry with me in the field. What kits do you use and why do you like it.
Thanks,
John
First aid kits
Re: First aid kits
I keep vet wrap, scissors, gauze, tweezers, a quickclot pad, and EMT gel in the vest. I figure with those I can stabilize most any cut and splint a broken leg well enough to get the dog to the truck.
In the truck I keep lots more vet wrap, and this kit: http://www.gundogsupply.com/ready-dog-p ... d-kit.html The bigger kit should be able to handle most anything for people or dogs.
I got my dermotologst hunting buddy to show me how to use the stapler in the kit.
Edit: I forgot, I also have 2 army cravats to be use to make up a sling or a harness.

Don't forget the Benadryl for bee stings, and instant ice packs. Oh yeah, don't forget about a few items for yourself.

Re: First aid kits
Oh, something else I do is figure out the emergency vet situation and contact information for the nearest town as part of planning a hunting trip. Not really a first aid deal, but if dealing with the stress of an injured dog - the last thing I want to be doing is trying to figure out where to go in a strange town with the dog for treatment beyond my abilities.
