Whats in your first aid kit?
Based off of another post I seen on here, I need to put together a first aid kit for hunting with my GSP, so here is my question;
What kinds of stuff do you put in your first aid kit?
Thanks all

Re: Whats in your first aid kit?
I recently bought a new EMT Pelican case for upgrading my old truck kit. Probably overkilled it. But the old case was falling apart. My kit is for human as well as dog.
Here's the old kit. The new case is about half again bigger.
I have the usual vet wrap, bandages, antiseptic ointments, sprays, alcohol, peroxide, etc, for lacerations. I also have a supply of antibiotics for a multitude of issues, Benedryl in caplet and injectable form, Benedryl spray for fireant bite/bee sting etc, Tramadol for pain, antiseptic eye ointment, alligator forceps, superglue, moleskin, surgical stapler, anti-inflammatories ... the list is long.
This stuff is the medical version of "tough foot". It is basically a stronger solution.

Re: Whats in your first aid kit?
It depend on the space you have.. If this is a pocket First aid kit you want
The simpler the better,
Gel Crazy Glue,
Emt Gel,
1-2 Night sanitary Pad ( your girl friend should have it)
About 10 feet of duct Tape.
Bandages.
Benadryl
buffered aspirin.
With that you should be able to get back to the truck where you should have a real big First aid kit ..

I would add (for your vest), a syringe and distilled water to clean wounds ... and some Benadryl for snakebite.

If you can get your vet to give you injectable Benedryl, it will work faster than pills or caplets. You can use saline eyewash as dual purpose for wounds too or just your drinking water.Scott Linden wrote:I would add (for your vest), a syringe and distilled water to clean wounds ... and some Benadryl for snakebite.
I think the most used things in my truck kit have been these eyeshadow cotton swabs I found in the makeup section of the drugstore. They are tightly made swabs with a point on one end and a rounded shape on the other. I use them to get seeds and other stuff out of the dogs eyes and ears. Other often used things are: antibiotics, Tramadol for pain, forceps, Benedryl caplets for insect stings/bite (Fireants)
These are the low lint swabs I use for getting things out of eyes.
