Saline Eye wash?

Post by zigzag » Sat Jul 21, 2012 9:30 pm

My dog gets grass seeds in his eyes this time of year running thru high grass I have been using one time use saline eye wash to clean his eyes after running the field. I don't use it all the time and somtimes his eyes water uzz and I think he flushes the objects out himself. Should I use it the eye wash all the time? Or just let his body work it out? What kinda eye wash if any are folks using for this? Thanks for any tips on this matter.

It is a good idea to flush any debris especially seeds. Saline is good but I keep a boric acid mix in the fridge.

A weak boric acid solution is what is sold as isotonic eyewash for both humans and animals.
Never try to teach a pig to sing. It wastes your time and annoys the pig.

To the contrary, it is the active ingredient in most eye washes a vet would give you and very gentle. Buy the boric acid at the pharmacy and use 1/8th teaspoon measured with a baking spoon and a cup of sterile water.
